European Investment Bank, Trade and Conflict


The Working Group on the European Investment Bank (EIB), Trade and Conflict focuses on how conflict sensitivity in EIB lending practices can be increased and how the EU’s commitments regarding conflict prevention and peacebuilding can be integrated in EU trade policy.

Recent Activities

  • In February 2014, EPLO participated at the annual meeting between the EIB Board of Directors and civil society in Luxembourg.
  • In June 2013, EPLO participated at a EIB meeting with civil society to discuss the review of the EIB Social and Environmental Handbook.
  • In February 2013, EPLO participated at the annual meeting between the EIB Board of Directors and civil society in Luxembourg.

  • In October 2010, EPLO organised a roundtable discussion on EU investment policy and conflict which brought together representatives of EU Member States and institutions, civil society, academia, the private sector and legal experts working on the European Investment Bank (EIB) and the relation between investment policy and conflict.
