CIVIL SOCIETY DIALOGUE NETWORK EVENT – Capacities for inclusive peace in the Bangsamoro: Gathering civil society perspectives

20th June 2018 - 21st June 2018

Recent events in Mindanao and in particular in Marawi, have once again highlighted the importance of collecting civil society analysis on how local, national and international actors can support the peace process in Mindanao, as the transition period towards a new Bangsamoro political entity continues.

This meeting will bring together international, national and local civil society analysts and representatives, working in and on Mindanao. Discussions will have a specific focus on how to ensure and maintain inclusivity in the implementation of the peace process, including local governance aspects. The participants will be invited to share their views on the current challenges to the implementation of the peace process, identify new dynamics within the Bangsamoro and reflect on the support of the international community, including the European Union (EU).

The overall objective of the meeting is to gather civil society analysis and recommendations on the support of the international community, including the EU, to inclusive peace in Mindanao and in particular in the future Bangsamoro entity, and more specifically on:

  • local governance needs and challenges, in the run up to and after the scheduled adoption of the Bangsamoro Basic Law (BBL),
  • the potential for a wider and more inclusive intra-Bangsamoro dialogue.
