The European External Action Service (EEAS), based in Brussels, is currently carrying out a Strategic Review of the European Union Monitoring Mission in Georgia (EUMM Georgia) as the current mandate of the Mission runs until 14 December 2018.
The Civil Society Dialogue Network (CSDN) has been hosting a series of meetings enabling civil society to provide input into the Strategic Reviews of different EU missions. This roundtable meeting is a follow-up to meetings on EUMM Georgia which took place in January 2014 and in September 2015 in Brussels in view of the previous Strategic Reviews carried out in 2014 and 2016. This meeting also complements two other CSDN roundtables organised in Tbilisi in January 2018.
The objective of this Civil Society Dialogue Network (CSDN) meeting is to contribute to the EEAS Strategic Review of EUMM Georgia, by gathering analysis and recommendations from civil society experts on the work of the Mission.
The meeting will specifically look at:
- Development of conflict dynamics in the region as they relate to the mandate of EUMM Georgia
- Mandate implementation, effectiveness and impact
- Recommendations for the future work of EUMM Georgia and its relationship with other EU activities.
