EPLO Brown Bag Lunch Event: Evolution of US policy on conflict prevention and prospects for US-EU relations

16th May 2019 @ 12:00 - 13:00 CEST

In this Brown Bag Lunch discussion, Uzra Zeya will address the evolution of the US policy on conflict prevention and state fragility in the context of an ‘American First’ White House, with growing bipartisan consensus for reorienting national security towards preventive approaches, as well as the prospects for US-European relations under and after Trump.

Ms Uzra Zeya is the President and CEO of Alliance of Peacebuilding (AfP), a US-based membership network of over 100 organisations working in 153 countries, bringing together coalitions in key areas of strategy and policy to elevate the entire peacebuilding field. Previously, Ms Zeya served as the Deputy Chief of Mission at the US Embassy in Paris. Over the course of her 27-year diplomatic career, she oversaw US human rights and democracy assistance, led US human rights dialogues with China and other countries, and served in several embassies around the world.

The presentation will be followed by an informal discussion among participants.

Participants are welcome to bring their own lunch and EPLO will provide tea and coffee.
