Ms. President is a 26-episode, reality television series on the prime-time Kenyan Television Network, produced by Media Focus on Africa and funded by the European Union (Instrument contributing to Stability and Peace). Over 1000 female local peacebuilder applied to participate in this TV reality show to compete for the title of ‘Ms President’ by partaking in political discussions. The topics covered in these discussions and episodes include marginalisation of those with limited economic prospects, ethnicity, peacebuilding, the divisive narrative used by extremist groups, reconciliation, social cohesion, violence, human rights, women’s participation, breakdowns in community and citizen-state relationships.

In this meeting, Media Focus will present the show, and the 5 finalists will share their insights on the impact the show had on the Kenyan society and how it affected their lives. The discussion will provide an opportunity for participants to explore ways in which innovative media approaches can have a positive role in building peace.
