EPLO BROWN BAG LUNCH EVENT – The Inside Story of the Conflict in Southeastern Ukraine

22nd May 2018 @ 13:00 - 14:00 CEST

In the wake of the 2014 Ukrainian revolution, unrest in the Donbas region grew into a war between pro-Russian rebel armed groups, seeking independence from Ukraine or unification with Russia, and the post-revolutionary Ukrainian government. Dr Anna Matveeva tells the story of the insurgency from the perspective of the rebellion, providing the detailed account of the campaign and putting the efforts to resolve the conflict into a comparative perspective with other post-Soviet conflicts.

In this Brown Bag Lunch discussion, she will present her research findings and discuss opportunities for peace in the Donbas conflict, taking into consideration the implications and role of the European Union.

Dr Anna Matveeva is a Visiting Senior Research Fellow at the Department of War Studies at King’s College London. She has recently published a book entitled ‘Through the Time of Troubles: Conflict in Southeastern Ukraine Explained from Within’.

The presentation will be followed by an informal discussion among participants.

Participants are welcome to bring their own lunch and EPLO will provide tea and coffee.

Please note that seats are limited and registration is mandatory. Please RSVP to Lorenzo Conti if you would like to participate.
