EPLO MEMBER ORGANISATION EVENT – Workshop on the Common Ground Approach

15th September 2017 @ 09:30 - 12:30 CEST

In celebration of Search for Common Ground’s 35th Anniversary, Search for Common Ground is organising an in-depth, hands-on workshop on the Common Ground Approach for a small group of our partners in peacebuilding, on Friday, 15 September, 2017, 09:30 to 12:30, followed by lunch. The address will be sent to guests who RSVP.

This workshop on the Common Ground Approach (CGA) is a unique opportunity for implementing partners across the spectrum to explore through practical exercises how to create safe spaces and bring people together across dividing lines. The interactive experience aims to create a deeper understanding of how peacebuilding activities are implemented in the field and how the CGA approach inherently mitigates certain challenges and risks. The workshop will show how even in the most fragile and conflict-affected areas, there is the possibility, above and beyond the indisputable needs, to set up peacebuilding activities at the community level. We will facilitate in-depth discussions to explore and compare different approaches that have been tested and perfected in fragile and conflict-affected areas so the participants will walk away with broad operating principles, which can guide and inform our respective and collective work in the future.

The workshop will be hosted by Sandra Melone, Search for Common Ground’s Executive Vice President, and will be led by Lena Slachmuijlder, Search for Common Ground’s Vice President of Programs.

Please RSVP to Fien De Baere by Tuesday 5 September
