EPLO MEMBER ORGANISATION EVENT – Implementing Agenda 2030 – can citizens lead in ensuring effective accountability?

24th February 2016 @ 13:30 - 16:30 CET

Last September, 193 UN Member States adopted the Agenda 2030 for Sustainable Development, a comprehensive and universal framework based on the Sustainable Development Goals. It is now time for the EU and its Member States to focus on the implementation of this new agenda at local, national and regional levels and to agree on citizen-centered effective accountability mechanisms.

Deutsche Stiftung Weltbevoelkerung (DSW), the World Bank and World Vision are organising this timely seminar that will bring together various speakers and participants from the EU institutions, EU Member States, international organisations and civil society organisations. The seminar will present evidence of the potential of social accountability mechanisms to ensure effective citizen engagement with the Agenda 2030, both within the EU and in its external action, and to promote impact where implementation is concerned.

Key stakeholders are cordially invited to join in these discussions and to gain an understanding of how social accountability approaches can support citizen-led action for the effective implementation of the Agenda 2030 for Sustainable Development.
