EPLO BROWN BAG LUNCH EVENT – A Civil Society Vision for the Future of Syria

13th September 2016 @ 13:00 - 14:00 CEST

In the absence of political progress in Geneva to end the war in Syria, Syrian civil society groups are working together to end the Syrian crisis and establish a future Syria where equal rights and responsibilities are granted to all Syrians.

In this EPLO Brown Bag Lunch discussion, a delegation of Syrian civil society activists will share their vision for Syria’s future and recommendations for concrete policies which the EU can support to help realise that vision.

Assaad Al Achi is the Executive Director of Baytna, a leading grassroots institution fostering the Syrian civil society movement and promoting an inclusive and democratic future for all Syrians. A Syrian economist and civil society activist, Mr Al Achi is also a founding member of the Local Coordination Committees in Syria and the Civil Society Geneva Declaration Initiative.

Mutasem Alsyufi is a Syrian activist and the soon-to-be Executive Director of The Day After, an organisation committed to achieving transitional justice in Syria and preparing for Syria’s transition to democratic, inclusive governance.

The Syrian civil society activists’ visit to Brussels is supported by Independent Diplomat.

Participants are welcome to bring their own lunch and EPLO will provide tea and coffee.

Please note that places are limited and registration is mandatory. Please RSVP to Susanne Wander if you would like to participate.
