Investing in peace after the pandemic – why and how?
on Tuesday 18 May 2021 at 14:00 to 15:30 (EEST)
The effects of the pandemic have increased insecurity, tensions and economic pressures. How can we find common solutions to such global issues? How can we strive for democratic resilience? The pandemic’s consequences will be transformative – either making us stronger or dividing us.
For the peacemaking community, it is clear that more investments are urgently needed to increase international cooperation, prevent new conflicts, and mitigate existing ones. We need an open debate on what kind of investments – monetary, social, environmental – should be made for the good of all. Now is the time to boost peacemaking in several arenas.
These questions will be discussed at a webinar titled Investing in peace after the pandemic – why and how? On 1 May 2021, CMI became a foundation under the name of CMI – Martti Ahtisaari Peace Foundation. The seminar will introduce the new CEO of the foundation, Dr. Janne Taalas.
