EPLO Member Organisation Event – The Transnational Anti-Gender Movement in the Wider Anti-Democratic Climate

16th December 2021 @ 13:00 CET

There is a lack of knowledge and awareness among policymakers and activists about what the anti-gender movement is, how it operates, the risks it poses and how to effectively develop strategies to counter it – in order to defend and advance human rights for all.

CFFP places a particular focus on advancing the international debate about the anti-gender campaigns as both a manifestation and reinforcement of the wider anti-democratic trend and is delighted to invite you to an online conference on Thursday, 16th of December 2021 (13.00-16.30 CET) where following a conversation with Sehnaz Kiymaz Bahceci (United For Istanbul Convention) on the anti-gender movement in multilateral spaces and their impact on the lived realities of people, we will proceed with a panel discussion and facilitated breakout rooms on: advancing ideas on equality in the context of shrinking civil society space, the relevance of the spread of disinformation to anti-gender activity, and the interlinkages between the anti-gender actors and international anti-feminism and violent extremism.

with:

Dorothy Nalubega (Executive Director of the Ecological Party of Uganda/African Coordinator for the Global Greens Women’s network)

Ariane Wolf (Head of International Partnerships, Violence Prevention Network)

Cianán Russell (Senior Policy Officer, ILGA – Europe)

The conference will be held in English. Please find the detailed programme attached below.

You can register via zoom events here.

Please feel free to circulate this invitation to interested colleagues, friends, and partners.
