On 26 March 2025, the European Peacebuilding Liaison Office (EPLO) organised a Civil Society Dialogue Network (CSDN) NGO-Roundtable meeting in Copenhagen. The meeting brought together around twenty Danish civil society representatives working on peacebuilding to discuss how Danish organisations can influence conflict prevention and peacebuilding policies in relation to the European Union, including during Denmark’s presidency of the Council of the EU. Participants explored advocacy priorities and possible engagement with national and EU policy processes.
Discussions addressed the changing political context for peacebuilding, including increasing attention to security and migration policies. Participants reflected on how civil society organisations can position peacebuilding within these debates while maintaining a principled approach to conflict prevention and international cooperation.
The meeting examined several thematic areas for engagement, including locally led peacebuilding in conflict-affected contexts, links between climate adaptation and conflict prevention, and Women, Peace and Security initiatives. Participants also discussed structural entry points within EU policy frameworks and opportunities for cooperation with Danish and European institutions.
