This report summarises discussions from a policy meeting held on 20 February under the Civil Society Dialogue Network. The exchange was organised by EPLO in cooperation with the European External Action Service, the EU Delegation to the United Nations, and the European Commission’s Service for Foreign Policy Instruments. The meeting brought together 35 representatives from European civil society organisations, alongside EU and UN officials, to provide input to the 2025 Review of the United Nations Peacebuilding Architecture.
Participants discussed the functioning of the UN peacebuilding system and examined how it could better support efforts to build and sustain peace. Conversations addressed the role of the EU and its Member States in supporting the review process, strengthening partnerships with civil society, and improving coordination within the UN system.
The meeting also explored national prevention strategies, cooperation across UN institutions, and horizontal priorities such as Women, Peace and Security, Youth, Peace and Security, and the links between climate change, governance, and conflict prevention.
