EPLO MEMBER ORGANISATION EVENT – Shrinking Space for Women

5th June 2018 @ 18:00 - 19:30 CEST

The Swedish Permanent Representation and the Kvinna till Kvinna Foundation are pleased to invite you to a panel discussion based on the recently published report Suffocating the Movement – Shrinking Space for Women’s Rights taking place on 5th June 2018, 18:00 – 19:30. Light refreshments and snacks will be served after the discussion.

In 2017, the Kvinna till Kvinna Foundation conducted a study on the impact of the shrinking civic space on women activists and women’s organisations. Over 130 women human rights defenders in 32 countries were asked whether and how their space to conduct advocacy had changed during the past years and, if so, how. More than 60 percent said their space to act as activists shrunk. The report identifies and analyses the effects of this phenomenon on women activists across regions affected by conflict and in the EU.

Women’s rights activists will discuss the findings of the report and share insights from their own experience. The presentations will be followed by a moderated discussion.

Please note that seats are limited and registration is required to grant access into the building. RSVP to Giulia Pasquinelli by C.O.B. Tuesday, 29 May 2018
