EPLO MEMBER ORGANISATION EVENT – Countering Violent Extremism: An Introductory Guide to Concepts, Programming, and Best Practices

26th September 2019 @ 16:00 - 17:00 CEST

Despite the recent growth of the countering violent extremism (CVE) field of practice, there has not yet been a publicly accessible training curriculum that offers a comprehensive introduction to this unique and sensitive approach. To address these gaps, Search and Hedayah have developed a culturally-literate training package aimed at raising awareness of CVE approaches.

The curriculum focuses on the benefits of collaborative approaches to violent extremism, beyond the use of military and other securitized responses. Dallin Van Leuven will share insights from the curriculum, in addition to exploring some of the best practices highlighted. Dallin will also discuss how the training was accurately translated into multiple languages, and why it is important to make CVE approaches culturally sensitive and easily adaptable to local contexts.

Search for Common Ground’s MENA Program Associate Dallin Van Leuven will lead a discussion on ‘Countering Violent Extremism: An Introductory Guide to Concepts, Programming, and Best Practices’ on Thursday 26 September at 4pm.
