EPLO Member Organisation Event – Rape: a cheap weapon of war with long-term effects

25th January 2021 @ 17:30 CET

Women subjected to sexual violence in war and conflict is a phenomenon since ancient times. Sexual violence is used as a way to execute power and humiliate the opponent, but it is also a cheap weapon of war with long-term effects. How can we support women in talking about their experiences regarding sexual violence in conflict-affected areas?

In connection with the Holocaust Memorial Day, we and The Living History Forum invite you to watch this panel discussion about sexual violence and its consequences.

The discussion will be live-streamed in English on the Facebook page of Kvinna till Kvinna (@kvinnatillkvinna) January 25th, 17:30 CEST.

Participants:
> Carol Rittner, Historian Professor and editor of the book ”Rape: Weapon of War and Genocide”
> Margot Wallström, former Minister of Foreign Affairs and former Special Envoy to the UN Secretary-General for issues regarding sexual violence in war and conflicts
> Belma Becirbasic, Senior Programme Officer for Bosnia-Herzegovina at The Kvinna till Kvinna Foundation

Moderator:
> Petra Tötterman Andorff, Secretary-General at The Kvinna till Kvinna Foundation
