The International Meeting ‘Thirst for Peace: Religions and cultures in dialogue’ will take place in Assisi from 18-20 September 2016.

30 years after the historical Day of Prayer for Peace of 27 October 1986 promoted by Pope John Paul II, men and women of different religions and cultures, united in the hope that the ‘Spirit of Assisi’ could bring peace in a world wounded by violence and war, will meet for 3 days, to talk and pray one close to the other.

On 20 September, Pope Francis will participate with the different religious leaders in the final ceremony of “Thirst for Peace”.

The event is promoted by the Diocese of Assisi, the Franciscan Families and the Community of Sant’Egidio, in co-operation with other associations, the Bishop’s Conference of Umbria, the administrations of the Region of Umbria and the City of Assisi.
