EPLO Member Organisation Event – Community-Led Truth Seeking: Challenges and Triumphs

ICTJ is pleased to present an online launch event for its new report, Civil Society-Led Truth-Seeking Initiatives: Expanding Opportunities for Acknowledgment and Redress, on Thursday April 21 from 12-1:30pm ET.

Join ICTJ for a roundtable discussion moderated by Virginie Ladisch, with remarks by:

  • Eduardo González Cueva and Jill Williams, authors of the report;
  • Rev. Nelson and Joyce Johnson, Co-founders of Greensboro Truth and Community Reconciliation Project; and
  • Jodie-Ann Geddes, ICTJ US fellow and Former Elaine Truth-Seeking Commissioner in Elaine, Arkansas.

The panelists will highlight key considerations for community led truth seeking process, drawing on case studies from around the world and their application to current efforts to advance truth, acknowledgement, and redress in the US. Following the discussion, participants will explore the benefits and challenges of community led truth seeking processes and have a chance to work through specific challenges or questions they are facing in the US through facilitated breakout discussions.
